In the video, the curator of the Army of the Individual Idiom Nastio Mosquito ponders the issues of artist’s identity and responsibility through the voice of James Baldwin, also commemorating the recently deceased Bisi Silva, a Nigerian female artist. Bisi Silva died in a hospital in Lagos on 12 March, aged 54. She was a resourceful curator who funded a non-profit art gallery and education centre in Nigeria’s biggest city of Lagos, which enabled the artistic scene to flourish, allowing contemporary African artists to gain wider recognition.
