Luanda Jazz festival back and bigger than before

When they launched the Luanda International Jazz Festival in 2009, organisers of Angola’s first-ever international jazz festival promised to make the event a platform where musicians with strong African rhythms can meet and share their music. If only the rest of the world could just get to see how crazy Angolans can be! Angolan television, with its obsession with Brazilian soap operas and soccer, is on the whole is boring. However, sometimes you get the odd program, such as this one, which reflect the highly fascinating Angolan reality. In Angola, at least in Luanda, most drunks and alcoholics do not make do with Western beer and beverages; they drink local brews which are sold by highly organised women. These are women who rarely get a chance to talk about their trade on television. After all, the only Angolan women often seen and heard in public are beauty contestants. Gente do bem, tenho um novo show no Bahia, em Luanda. Venham curtir 50 minutos de boa vibe e algumas coisas que ainda não me viram fazer em Angola! 6 anos depois de “Beijinho No Rabo” apresento “Dor De Corno Sem Cabeça” às 22h no Espaço Bahia, Luanda, Sábados do mês de Junho.
