MANIFESTO film festival

The African Continent is the inspiration behind Manifesto. It inspired me not because it spoke to me, but because of its hard labour. In a world devoid of romance and love the Continent can unite us without the need for intellectual speech.

It is this ancestral culture with orgasmic flavours which never fails to raise pertinent questions about who we are, that we propose to share through Manifesto. The images, smells, colours and rthyms that constitute the African culture and cannot help include those from different backgrounds.
The Manifesto Mini Film Festival illustrates the little known journey of P.A.L.O.P (African Countries That Speak Portuguese) and the cultural plights that are occurring within them. The films showcased allow each viewer to discover Cape Verde and Angola intimately, through the perspective of an insider.
The team behind Manifesto are delighted to present Africa in a simple approach to cinema as well as providing a platform for artists who choose to speak of Africa.

Manifesto was founded in 2005 by Alberto Tavares, with a bright and ambitious concept to bring a small piece of Africa to London through Film, Art, Music & Culture. Manifesto Events and Film Festival offer an opportunity to introduce the true wealth of African culture and increase visibility of emerging African artists. Manifesto offers a unique selling point by specializing in African sounds and furthermore, PALOP (African countries that speak Portuguese) in each and every event. With an African music policy, the deep origins of post colonization beats and sounds are entwined with a contemporary feel of modern African artists. As an Events Brand, Manifesto also manages an impressive line up of bands such as Manding Sabu, Barudju, Groovewaves and Toni Dudu as well as offering catering services to encapsulate an authentic Manifesto vibe.

With Manifesto regularly appearing in publications such as Time Out, Le Cool, Global Music Culture and Regent Street Online, as an irrepressibly cool destination for those seeking an evening out with a difference, it is not hard to envision why it appeals to such a broad & eclectic crowd. Manifesto aims to develop a series of eclectic events that celebrates the richness of African culture. Its ambitious program seeks to increase the visibility of African arts and artists by bringing audiences together in a receptive, high quality cultural environment.
In 2006, Fernando Pereira joined the Manifesto project bringing a wealth of knowledge in branding & business development. Todd Haart & Sandra Mussagy, Creative Projects Associates, source an extensive array of live entertainment, artwork and films. Collectively, this team is the driving force behind Manifesto.
