Joana Simões Piedade

Lisbon, 1979. She graduated in Law (University of Lisboa, 2002) and received a specialization in Journalism (CENJOR, 2004). She is a freelance journalist and her work has appeared in Portuguese magazines as NS’ (Diário de Noticias), Time Out Lisboa and Nós. As a reporter she has traveled to places like the Western Sahara refugee camps in Argel and the Kurdish territories in southern Turkey. In 2009 she lived in Luanda (Angola) where she was an editor for VIDA magazine and also participated in directiong TV shows. In 2009 she received a grant to work for The World Bank’s publications in Washington DC, where she is now living.
