Jorge Dias

(born 1972) in Maputo, Mozambique 1992 Degree in ceramics from the Escola Nacional de Artes Visuais (ENAV), Maputo

2002 Degree in sculpture from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Rio de Janeiro. He is a founding member of the Percursos group in Brazil and the Movement for Contemporary Art in Mozambique (MUVART). Since 1992, he has participated in various solo and group exhibitions in Mozambique and other countries, including Germany, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Spain, the United States of America, England, Italy, Portugal, and São Tomé and Príncipe.

His works are in institutional collections such as the National Art Museum in Maputo, the Banco de Moçambique, Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique, Transportes Aéreos de Portugal, the World Bank in Washington, the PLMJ Foundation in Maputo and the delegations in Lisbon, the Guimarães Rosa Institute - Maputo, the Camões Institute in Maputo and in various national and foreign private collections. He was a professor and director of the National School of Fine Arts (ENAV) and taught at the Institute of Art and Culture (ISArC), the Polytechnic University, the Institute of Science and Technology of Mozambique (ISCTEM), and the Portuguese School of Mozambique. He was also curator and deputy director of the National Art Museum and is currently general coordinator of the Guimarães Rosa Maputo Institute. He lives and works in Maputo.
