Lisbon (1967). Writer and literary translator. Translated Cormac McCarthy, Orwell, DeLillo, Joyce, Dickens and many others. His first novel, Strange War of Common Use (2016, Ithaca), was about the deaf war he waged in the shadow of the war of grown men.
