Paula Caspão

Lives and works between Lisbon and Paris, in critical indeterminacy between forms of theoretical research, transversal artistic practices, and socio-political thinking. She holds a PhD in Philosophy (epistemology and aesthetics) from the University of Paris Nanterre (2010) and was a visiting scholar in the Department of Performance Studies, New York University (2018). She has worked extensively on the economies and infrastructures of research, on the modes of producing knowledge and their specific sensorium, addressing the infra-ordinary dimensions of reading, translation, and edition. She is a Professor of Artistic Studies ï PhD and MA Program in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Lisbon, and an integrated researcher at the Centre for Theatre Studies of the same university (CET-FLUL), associated to the Institute of Contemporary History (IHC-UNL). She is currently experimenting with cine-fabulation practices to interrogate the forms of extractivism and socio-environmental devastation involved in the production of knowledge and history, as well as in the maintenance of their institutions, technologies, and political fictions.
