Jorge de La Barre

Ph.D. in Sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). Investigador Integrado at the Instituto de Etnomusicologia, Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade Nova (Lisbon). Author of “Jeunes d’origine portugaise en association. On est européen sans le savoir” (L’Harmattan, Paris, 1997), and “Identités multiples en Europe ? Le cas des lusodescendants en France” (L’Harmattan, Paris, 2006). Has worked as a Consultant in International Migrations for the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), and as a visiting scholar at the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race (Columbia University, New York City), and the Centre d’Études Ethniques (University of Montréal). His actual research on Lisbon’s music scenes and music circulation within the Lusopohone space and beyond, are the base for a book-in-progress on Music, City and Ethnicity.
