Filomena Mairosse

(she/her, b. 1992) is an interdisciplinary artist born and living in Maputo, Mozambique. She works primarily with photography, writing, video, and analog collage, and explores themes around reimagining realities, belonging, consumption, interdependence, and nature. She started photographing more intentionally in 2018, focusing on concert photography and eventually developed her own style of semi-abstract and conceptual images. The first public showing of her work was done at the Mindelo Cultural Center in Cape Verde, and her work has subsequently been shown in Mozambique, Angola, and globally through a series of virtual showcases. She’s currently exploring the creation of interactive pieces, mediumscale installations, zines, and short films.
